Photobooth Friday

Photobooth_Saturday_3_26_edited-1

One of my favorite things to do is to set my camera to take 10 photos and then do a photo booth style photoshoot in the car with my husband when we are getting ready to go somewhere fun-just the 2 of us.  I took these shots on Saturday morning before we left for the Outlet Mall.  The photobooth frame is from Katie Pertiet at Designer Digitals.

Happy Friday!

Photos Around the Farm

My Dad’s new tractor.  He’s very proud of it.

The fact that this said IOWA on it caught my eye.

I love taking photos around the farm!

Palette1

Here are some color palettes that have my eye right now.

Can you tell that I am thinking about Spring?

Palette3

Loving pink and all the shades of pink that go along with it.

Weekend Photography

IMG_0015

Bryan doesn’t like to just take normal photos.

IMG_0016

So I got several of these shots before we went out on Saturday night.

IMG_0017

But he did finally take one good one.

IMG_0103

On Sunday, this little guy came right up to me, hoping I would have some food.

IMG_0100

I didn’t, so he was disappointed.  But he let me take his photo.

And look at this purple spot-so cool!

SheArt Girl #3

IMG_0020

On Sunday morning, I finished She Art Girl number 3.

IMG_0027

I’m not doing very well with real girls right now, but I am doing a pretty good job with these girls.

img262

She actually turned out way better than I thought she would.  I didn’t like the canvas at first, but I added some additional color to lighten it up after the girl was finished!

Hope everyone had a productive, fun, and restful weekend!

Happy Monday!

Spring Robin Inspiration

IMG_9811

So, things have been pretty dreary around here with all of the rain, rain, and rain.  So it was a pleasant sight when the Robins seemed to pop up out of nowhere.

IMG_9815

They are loving this weather.  And all of the worms that it brings up out of the ground.

IMG_9817

There are about a dozen robins hanging out behind the building that I work in.

IMG_9818

But this little guy is a brave one.  He didn’t leave for the winter.  He hangs out in this corner of my yard all winter long-imagine how surprised I was to see him in one of our trees in December!

IMG_9821

He thought it was cute that I was following him around with the camera for a little while.

IMG_9846

Then he just thought I was kind of creepy Smile

IMG_9867

But he is so cute!  I love how they puff their feathers out.

IMG_9891

It was pretty windy out tonight, so his feathers were really getting ruffled.

IMG_9888

And then he said enough of you following me around.  Spring is coming.  That is all you need to know.

Spring is coming, it’s just hard to imagine when it is cold and rainy!

Then I went inside and worked on this.

IMG_9961_edit

I am still using a lot of Alisa Burke’s style in my sketching and I was totally inspired by some bird pictures that she posted on her blog a while back ago.  You can find that post here.  I will probably keep using her style for quite a while until I am comfortable with sketching-which I am most definitely not-although I am really enjoying it-it is very calming.  She doesn’t have anything to worry about though Smile.  She puts wayyyy more detail into her sketches than I probably ever will.  For now, I am just enjoying the process.

IMG_9960_edit

I love the way that she finishes off a sketch by drawing around it and jotting down some notes about the photo she took or what she drew.

IMG_9999_edit

I even tried to draw a cardinal.  Their heads are much easier than the other birds, since it comes to a point…I have trouble drawing bird heads-pretty soon I will have a page full of bird heads to practice drawing them correctly.

Anyway…Happy Friday and have a great weekend!!

Photo Inspiration Wk4-How Things Stack Up

IMG_9804

When I saw this weeks photo inspiration photo by Tracey Clark, I knew exactly what to photograph.

(I still haven’t come up with a motif yet. Waiting for my inspiration.)

IMG_9799

I love my dishes.  Chips and all. I love the colors.

IMG_9801

And the flowers.  They make me think of Spring!

Happy Thursday!

Painting the Kitchen

IMG_9732

Before.  We have a problem with peeling paint in the kitchen.  One of the things that I totally love about our house is that there are layers and layers and layers in certain areas of our home (and for sure-not all of it is pretty Smile  But these layers certainly are one of the reasons for the peeling paint…

IMG_9674

After, Part I-ceiling painted and new ceiling fan installed.

IMG_9672

I LOVE the repetitive motion of painting.  If it didn’t take so long to set up to get ready to paint, I would LOVE painting.  But the actual painting part (which pales in comparison to the time that it takes to prepare to paint) is actually very relaxing.  As long as you don’t panic when the wall is drying…because it always looks like crap when it’s drying.

IMG_9754

Love painting in small spaces with giant size appliances in the middle of the room…

IMG_9767

After Part II-walls painted and a new rug, which matches the one in the dining room.  We are considering putting new flooring in…but it won’t be anything too time consuming or expensive.

Next step-making the curtains for the dining room and the kitchen.  Maybe next weekend…

Happy Tuesday!

She Art Girl–Week 2

img261

I just finished my second SheArt Girl painting from the week 2 videos.  Love her.  I forgot to take photos of the background in progress-mostly because I didn’t like any of it until the very end Smile  Enjoy!

Have a great week!  Happy Monday!
