Marigolds

IMG_8554

{Marigolds}

I had a couple of flower pots that needed flowers and so I picked up some marigolds (we were buying some new grill stuff). Normally, I plant marigolds from seed. But I decided that I needed some orange in the yard. I am not a huge fan of marigolds. But even planting the seeds-I am totally reminded of Grandma Lewis. And that makes them my favorites. The smell of the flowers, the seeds, the color. They all remind me of Grandma and how I'm pretty sure she could make anything grow. I remember helping Grandma and Grandpa plant seeds in the garden when I was little. Using a string so that the rows would be straight. The scent of marigolds will IMG_8560

always remind me of Grandma. And I will always be drawn to them for that reason.

Happy Wednesday!

Blast From the Past-Women in our Family

Grandma and her sisters-Katherine, Lula, and Darlene. If anyone knows who the little girl is-let me know! The original photo is in color-which I loved, but I decided to give it a bit of a sepia tone for more of a timeless look. Because there are some REALLY 70s looking colors going on in this photo:) Happy Tuesday!

More Scraplifting...

Just a quick post this morning while William and Bryan finish getting ready for school. I had time Monday night for a quick scraplift using this photo of Grandma Lewis and Mazie and Ellen (Grandpa's sisters). I used the layout of Ali Edwards' Yesterday and Today class information and a photo mask of hers from designerdigitals.com. I'm really looking forward to her class (it starts Thursday!) and hope everyone has a great Wednesday!

Blast from the Past

I found the photo of Grandma and Sarah and I in the box of photos that I brought home from Mom's that I am supposed to be scanning onto my computer to create a CD for. {So far I have scanned 2 photos and organized about 1/4 of the box.} Anyway-I loved that I was holding Sarah and of course the bandana is very interesting and the bow says a lot. As you can see Sarah and I still love hanging out together. And I still like to wear brown stuff on my head....Have a great Monday!
