So…I am a little behind on my Word of the Year post this year. (I had also meant to post about last years word, but I haven’t gotten to that yet either).
Simplify is my one little word this year.
I am so excited that Ali Edwards is teaching the OLW year long class at Big Picture Classes. You can register for the class here. So far, it has been like the Universe aligned just perfectly with everything that I wanted to accomplish this year. And I am loving it.
Simplify can mean so many things. Which is one of the reasons that I am so excited about this class. Totally awesome that we have an entire year to explore all of the directions that our word can take us.
Where am I hoping my one word will take me?
Simplify-to make things more simple (I always hated definitions like this in the dictionary in grade school…) But it is what it is. I am hoping to make things around here a little less complicated in a lot of ways. And I’m not really sure what all of that means for me yet.
First-some ways that I am incorporating my word into my life:
1) I made a charm while I was making Christmas gift tie ons this year and it is currently hanging inside my binder for the OLW class.
2) I placed a sign that says, “Simplify” above my desk to remind me of my word. I have had the sign for several years-I have always loved the word, but never been quite sure what to do with it before this year.
3) I ordered a charm for my necklace (from the Vintage Pearl, here) with my word on it, to replace the charm with last years’ word. I will post a photo as soon as I receive it. I also ordered a pearl charm to go with it. I am reminded of my word-particularly at the gym-because the charm jingles on the chain while I’m walking or running. (I love that-it is a fabulous reminder).
4) I am also working on decluttering some areas of my home right now, although that isn’t the only thing that I want my word to mean to me this year.
Next, my OLW pages so far:
For prompt number 1, I am using the photo that was taken during my birthday celebration at Mom’s on January 1, 2011. I love that it was taken on the first day of the new year.
For prompt 2, I haven’t quite come up with anything to put on the last 2 cards, but I’m really excited to have a good start on the rest them!
I loved that I found a quote by Elizabeth Ann Seton. She is one of my favorite Saints and the one that I took my confirmation name from.
Finally, some of my favorite synonyms for Simple/Simplify are: Rustic, Modest, Homey, Classic, and Streamline.
I wish you all the best of luck with your word.
Happy Saturday!
