O Christmas Tree!

Brush by Ali Edwards for Designer Digitals.

Found a new setting for my camera to use to get the "starburst" effect with the lights on the Christmas tree, a tripod, and a really slow shutter speed. Settings found here. I LOVE how it turned out! Have a great Tuesday! Snow is coming!

Family Photos

Here are some of my favorite photos from our Family Thanksgiving. This one turned out great-I love it! (Nice work by my husband taking this photo). Elizabeth seems to be missing though!
Family Photo-2009

Sarah wanted a photo of brother and sisters-great idea! These turned out great!

And some action shots of the boys playing catch with the football.

We had a great time spending time with family over the holiday weekend.
Happy Monday!

Sneak Peak-Vieira Photo Shoot

On Saturday morning, the Vieira's (Paul is a mechanical engineer at the same company that I work at) allowed me to come into their home (with Bryan as my helper) and take a bazillion photos of their family. It is the first time I have done a "photoshoot" that didn't include me just taking photos of my own family, so I was a little afraid that I would screw it up or that none of my photos would turn out. But here is a sneak peak of some of the photos that I took. You guys have a wonderful family, I learned a ton on Saturday, and let me know if there are other parts of your home that you want photographed. And i love the Mums! They're beautiful!
It looks like Simon and the dogs were looking to the left:) But we know that was because Bryan was handing out treats on that side...

The Vieira's in front of their home.

Nikki is very photogenic.

This one is so sweet.

These are the photos I wish I had more of. The everyday stuff when the kids were little.

Why is this strange woman walking around with a camera?

Thank you so much for letting me photograph your family! I hope you enjoy the sneak peaks and I hope to get your disk to you in about a week. Happy Labor Day!

The Ranch, Part II

Horses out in the pasture while a storm rolls in.
MMMmmmm.....bacon.....

Lots of doggies...
The bunkhouse-we spent the night here on Saturday night. Sunday night we slept in the guest bedroom. Wish I'd taken photos inside the bunkhouse. It was very beautifully decorated.

Elizabeth and William playing Fusbol in the game "house."

The llama. He keeps an eye on 86 when she gets out. He doesn't leave the fenced-in area, but he hangs out nearby.

William on the four-wheeler.

Elizabeth learning the controls on the four-wheeler.

An intense game of fusbol while Elizabeth plays with the barn kitties.

Pike's Peak from the south as we were heading toward Colorado Springs.

Bryan on the four-wheeler.
We had such a wonderful time at Laura and Charlie's. I wish I could post ALL of the photos that I took. But that would take far more time than I have. It was great and I can't wait to go out and visit again. Thank you! Happy Friday!

Taking Photos

My sister and I love taking photos! Whether it is of each other, the beautiful scenery, or the local foliage (lots of these!) we always have a camera handy. And my sister takes fabulous photos! Thanks, Sarah! I actually got to be in some vacation photos!
Sarah saw a marmot hiding under a rock and stayed to take photos, so it took her a little while longer come down from the top of Mt. Evans. He was a cute little guy.
Sarah taking photos of the flowers around our campsite.

Sarah and I taking photos of each other taking photos at our campsite :)

I uploaded 250 photos to Shutterfly yesterday (it's not as impressive as it sounds.... ) It was really great sharing photos with Sarah as we took them so that we both have photos like this :)
I decided to create a photobook with my vacation photos, so I will be starting that process very soon. I can't wait to play with all of the photos! Happy Tuesday!

Mt Evans-14,270 feet

Here we are on top of Mt. Evans with Sarah and Jeremy on Tuesday. Butch carried the tripod so that I could get a photo of all of us up at the top. I have a TON of photos to sort through {I am SOOOO glad that I can digitally sort through them rather than having a ton of photos developed and then throwing half of them away} but here is a brief summary of our vacation:

*over 2,000 miles driven
*1 emergency prompt care visit for tons of stitches
*1 mom relieved that it wasn't more serious
*many delicious dinners
*1 waterlogged camping trip
*6 Gb of photos taken
*1 trip to Mt. Evans
*a couple of celebratory beverages
*miles and miles of beautiful scenery
*lots of animals
*tons of fun

I totally missed my puppies while we were gone, but we had a wonderful time! It was great to visit family and friends and see both extremes of Colorado-the flatlands and the mountains. They were both beautiful and I will try to get it all organized so that I can post what we did. In the meantime...we need to get some groceries. There is NO food in this house. Happy Saturday!

10 Things I Loved About Today

Picnic at Pleasant Creek in Palo, Iowa.

1. William helping Bryan with word finds in the car on the way to Pleasant Creek.
2. Bryan quoting a previous conversation,"We have a Monicals...oh no that's Wm: "Grandfathers." ...he he....Godfathers....
3. Me: Periodic table of the emelents...
4. William's story about making up bad words with Weston using the symbols for the elements in the periodic table.
5. no complaining...well....except for me...and William...

6. Wiliam working on word searches instead of eating his KFC.

Play wrestling at the park.

7. Bryan powering the canoe sitting in the back while Daddy was in the front.
8. William getting mad at me for changing sides with my paddle.

William is catching up, Daddy!

You can't tell these 2 are related....not at all...

Photo by William-actually both boys took photos of us and they both turned out great! But I like this one because we are laughing. A piece of my hair blew in Daddy's face and William took the photo. The resulting picture looked like he was picking his nose.

9. Taking photos afterwards. (I LOVE how grown up you guys are getting!)

10. I FINALLY got to go canoeing!

We missed you, Elizabeth! We will have fun on Vacation though!

Puppies

When we were visiting at Mom's over Memorial Day Weekend, I had the opportunity to take some photos of the dogs on the farm. They LOVE to go for walks and they are so interesting to watch! And, of course, they don't complain or whine or complain or talk.... I printed both photos out at 5x7 on my printer and put them in the frames that I have on my desk at work which are for the dogs. (The photos that were in the frames were 2 years old. Ralph was much thinner then...) Happy Friday-have a great weekend!

Prima {donna downey} Canvas Album Page

I am really proud of this page, so I had to post it as soon as I uploaded the photos. I LOVE this photo of my husband! (taken earlier this week in the back yard and printed on my Epson Stylus Photo 280). The canvas was painted with red paint, then the heart was collaged onto the page (the heart was cut out of an old book that my Mom was going to throw out!)
Then I used a "B" stamp with white paint onto the page with a Making Memories foam alpha stamp. I used my sewing machine to sew some zigzag stitches onto the photo.

I wanted an acrylic heart, but I was out of those, so I found my last large acrylic flower. The button was part of a random set of buttons that I ordered from jenni bowlin's retail site.

Finally-the purple and pink outlining around the heart was done using Portfolio oil pastels. I love the way the page turned out! Happy Saturday!

Photoshoot

Lesson learned: If you don't want your photo taken constantly, it's probably not a good idea to buy your wife a new camera.
P.S. The camera was an awesome Christmas present. I love it!
Ralph has perfect concentration. His eyes never leave the soccer ball.

Happy Thursday!

CrabAppleTree {More Photos}

Sunday evening I had to take a few more photos from a different angle of the crabapple tree blooming. So beautiful! Happy Wednesday!
