Inspiration-February

IMG_3518

I had my eye on these polka dot gift bags at Target when they first put them out.  And when they clearanced them…well that was perfect.

IMG_3519

I had a package of Martha Stewart Pouncers that I was waiting to use (on the left) and was thinking about using one of my hand-carved circle stamps.

IMG_3520

First I painted a heart.  Then I followed the polka dot pattern from the gift bag to create the rest of the page.

I ended up using just the pouncer.

IMG_3522

The colors matched almost perfectly.

IMG_3525

Then I added some polaroid POGO photos.  And lots of journaling in the heart.

I also found some heart rub-ons lying around in the Studio that I added along the side of the heart.

IMG_3538

I later added a hand-stitched tag to the upper left hand corner.  The tag was inspired by the ones that were on sale from Amy Tangerine on Two Peas on Saturday morning.  I didn’t want to wait, so I made my own in a smaller size.

IMG_3539

A closer look at the photo.  I took Bill’s photo outside the door at JCPenneys on Friday night because I LOVED that it said “Lots of Feb to Love.”

A closer look at the journaling on the heart.

I love how it turned out!  So again, an inexpensive item at Target led to some amazing art journal inspiration.  Love it!

Happy Valentine’s Day again!

Band Concert 2012

IMG_3652

Since Bryan plays the Trumpet, even though he is first chair, he disappears behind the clarinets and I don’t ever get very good photos of him actually playing.  So he posed in the little auditorium for me.

IMG_3667

And again in the living room after the performance.

IMG_3668

He wasn’t supposed to wear jeans.  But I could NOT talk him out of that.

This happened Thursday night Open-mouthed smile

Happy Valentine’s Day!

IMG_3550

I am sooo far behind on my blogging.  Due to technical difficulties I wasn’t able to post Sunday or Monday, so here it is Wednesday already!

Anyway-on to Valentine’s Day.

On the front sidewalk when I got home from work on Tuesday, there were Hershey’s Kisses declaring, “I Love You.”

IMG_3611

On the table waiting for me. Love Open-mouthed smile.

IMG_3615

Kiss and Hug Coupons Open-mouthed smile .  Love that Bill spent like 2 hours unwrapping kisses and hugs to pull out the little papers…

IMG_3609

Love the flowers!

IMG_3517

And…

IMG_3497

On Saturday, I gave him…

IMG_3498

Green Lantern.

IMG_3499

Hal Jordan.

IMG_3509

And a notebook.

IMG_3516

Don’t worry.  He also got a $35 bottle of whiskey.  So the cost was about even Open-mouthed smile

Hoping everyone had a fantastic (belated) Valentine’s Day!!

Carnations and Color Palettes

IMG_3381

I love carnations!

IMG_3373

I actually went into Hy-Vee looking for Tulips, but all they had were carnations.

IMG_3374

So I gathered up my favorite colors!

IMG_3400

And Saturday morning I took a photo of the carnations with the sunrise streaming in the window.

IMG_3398

I also bought a new purse.

IMG_3438

And together…they make up my favorite color palette!  Pink, Bright pink, and Light blue.

Love!

Happy Monday!

Art Journal page

IMG_3256

I have been trying to art journal more this year.

IMG_3257

And trying to focus on things that I love in my pages.

IMG_3258

Hand carved stamps, for one.

IMG_3259

and specific color combinations (like cobalt blue, green gold, pink, and quinacridone magenta-which I am almost out of!)

IMG_3260

love the way that these turned out.

IMG_3255

And the way the page turned out.

IMG_3270

I especially love the way that the big heart stamp ended up.

Happy Friday!!

Despite the ending, we enjoyed watching the game.
